Funeral services for Edwin Bernard Conger,Sr., age 55 of Oak Ridge, LA, will be held Saturday, August 28,2004 at 2:OO PM at the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge with Rev. Donnie Wilkerson officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery, Oak Ridge, LA. Visitation hours are from 5 PM until 8 PM Friday at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop. Mr. Conger, a lifelong member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church died Tuesday, August 24,2004 at Saint Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Houston, TX. He lived and worked overseas for twenty years with Saudi Aramco before retiring in 2000. Mr. Conger is survived by his wife, Jane Conger; mother, Nell Conger of Oak Ridge,LA; daughter, Gretchen Conger of Monroe,LA; son, Edwin Bernard Conger,Jr. of Shreveport,LA; brothers in law, Bruce Garner and Mike Garner; sisters in law, Sandra Ford and Pat Conger; nephews, Jon Conger and Joe Conger and a niece, Sue Ann Poling. He is preceded in death by his father, Sam Conger; son, William Conger and a brother, Joe Conger. Pallbearers will be Weldon Fitch, Johnny Fitch, Clint Shepherd, Robert Barham, Larry Barr, Marc Withorne, Charles Greer and Dr. Roland Pornaski. Honorary pallbearers will be Nelson Orr, Geral Kennedy, Ron Lee and Jay Flynn. The Conger family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to all of those who have helped by donating blood, plasma and platelets during their time of need. Memorial contributions may be made to the Texas Heart Institute, P.O. Box 20345, Houston,TX 77225-0345.
