Obituary of Thelma L. Hughes

Funeral services for Thelma L. Hughes are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Meridian Baptist Church with Rev. Allan Eppinette and Rev. Kevin McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in the Hughes Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. service time at the church. Ms. Hughes passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at the age of 86. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church and loved her family and grandchildren very much. Ms. Hughes was known to be an avid sports fan and loved to watch baseball. She also enjoyed watching birds, especially hummingbirds, and taking care of others. Ms. Hughes is survived by her sons, Michael Hughes, Dennis Hughes and wife Candy, Eric Hughes and wife Kathy; sister, Darlene Humphreys Swift; grandchildren, Shane Hughes, Ashley Hughes Harrington and husband Jimmy, Jennifer Hughes Campbell and husband Michael, Stanton Hughes, Clay Hughes and wife Hayley, Erica Hughes Gross and husband Justin, Cole Hughes and wife Courtney, Ashton Hughes, Spencer Hughes; ten great grandchildren, and one on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanton and Rosa Lee Humphreys; husband, J.C. Hughes and brother, Jack Humphreys. Serving as pallbearers will be Cole Hughes, Ashton Hughes, Spencer Hughes, Ty Simmons, Jimmy Harrington, Clay Hughes and Dwight Viereck.
