Funeral services for Mr. Ira Cecil Weeks, age 90, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. service time. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Weeks, a retired employee of 38 years with International Paper Company, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II on the USS Charles Ausburne as a gunner in the "Little Beaver" squadron. He loved his grandchildren, dogs, raising a garden, hunting, plowing with his tractor, fishing in his pond and just being outside. Mr. Weeks is survived by his daughter, Glenda Cooper and husband David of Bastrop, LA; son, Gary Weeks and wife Jerilyn of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren, Todd Cooper of Bastrop, LA, Craig Cooper and wife Tammy of Newnan, GA, Jason Weeks and wife Andrea of Maumelle, AR, Dayton Weeks and wife Phuong of Fayetteville, AR; five great grandchildren, Jessica Cooper, Emily Cooper, Andrew Cooper, Derek Weeks, Kaley Weeks and one great great grandchild Annabell Nelson. He is preceded in death by his wife Mavis Elaine May Weeks; parents, William and Hettie Weeks and seven brothers and sisters. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family wishes to thank Lagniappe Health Care, Dr. Carter Cox and Mr. Weeks loyal caretaker Lisa Hughes.
