Obituary of Wanda Ruth Whitaker

Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Ruth Whitaker, age 81, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Ramon Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Whitaker, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015. She was a retired medical administrative specialist and a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Whitaker was a graduate of Bastrop High School and attended college at Louisiana Tech University. She will be remembered as being an excellent cook and she loved preparing meals for her friends and family. Mrs. Whitaker is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Gray, Jr. and Jewel Baker Gray, and her sister, Maureen Gray Bush. She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Whitaker; daughter, Kay Whitaker Lamberton and husband Michael Dean Lamberton of Lancaster, SC; two sons, Kelly Gray Whitaker and wife Karen Graichen-Whitaker of Sandown, NH, Charles Kenneth Whitaker and wife Lois Marie Whitaker of Harleyville, SC; sister-in-law, Catherine Olivia McCorquodale; seven grandchildren, Natalie Lamberton, Lauren Nicole Whitaker, Chelsea Austin, Megan Graichen-Keffer, Matthew Lamar Miller, Charles Greye Whitaker, Hannah Ruth Whitaker; and ten great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Graylon Buch, Mike Lamberton, Brad Reaves, Flint Robertson, Mike Duckworth, and Thomas Coats.
