Obituary of Alfred "Sonny" Rogers

Funeral services for Alfred "Sonny" Rogers are scheduled for 10 A.M. Friday, May 29, 2015, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Dalyn Helbling officiating. Interment will follow in Stevenson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Rogers, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the age of 85. He was a retired Wood Contractor and a member of First Church of God. Mr. Rogers served in the Army with Company C, 61 Engineer Battalion. Sonny was often found on the water doing what he loved best, fishing. As much as he loved fishing, however, it paled in comparison to his love for his wife and his family. He leaves behind a legacy of exceptional moral character and provision for his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jean Lowery Rogers; daughter, Donna Rogers Faulkenberry of Calhoun, LA; son, Alfred Gale Rogers and wife Debbie of Bastrop, LA; sisters, Ruby Linzay and husband Harold Gene, Marie Cooley, Edna Farrar and husband Charles all of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Brandy Gail Rogers of Ruston, LA, Michael Brett Rogers and wife Cali of Monroe, LA, Michael Todd Faulkenberry of Calhoun, LA. Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by his father, Ed C. Rogers; mother, Josie Rogers; brothers, Barney Rogers, J.D. "Bill" Rogers, Clayton "Bud" Rogers; sisters, Ruth Laing and Mildred Laing. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Antley, W.B. Harris, Ross Riles, Mike Scroggins, Mike Faulkenberry and Paul Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Scroggins and Acie Orr.
