Obituary of Sybil Capers Barnhill

A Going Home Celebration for Mrs. Sybil Capers Barnhill is scheduled for 10 A.M. Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Spicer officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, May 29, 2015. Mrs. Barnhill, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at the age of 70. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Barnhill was born and raised in Mer Rouge, LA, moving to Bastrop during her high school years. She became a nurse 33 years ago, retiring from MGH in 1999. In 2010, she moved to Texas to be with her children and grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as "Grandsib." Mrs. Barnhill enjoyed all aspects of nature. She loved to watch the flowers bloom in all seasons. Her last days were spent watching birds as she drank her morning coffee. She is survived by her son, Gary Keith Barnhill and wife Lori of McKinney, TX; daughter, LeAnn Barnhill of Sherman, TX; sister, Darlene Harrell and husband Robert of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Jacob Barnhill, Emily Barnhill, Kaleb Splond and Lexie Lara; special aunt, Wilma Gee and several special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barnhill is preceded in death by her parents, Otis("Peck")Capers and Doris Capers; brother, Dewey Capers; special niece, Denise ("Niecey") Capers. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Harrell, Johnathon Roan, Josh Sisk, Kaleb Splond, Bruce Cook and Chris Balsamo.
