Obituary of Bill Ferschoff, Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Bill Ferschoff, Sr. are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Bill Ferschoff, Sr., age 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22, 2015. He was born in Hamburg, AR on February 7, 1926 to Catherine and O.R. Ferschoff. He married the love of his life, Ping, on Valentine's Day in 1950. In 1954 they moved to Bastrop when he became manager of the West Brothers store. Bill was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church serving as a deacon from 1988 until his failing health forced him to relinquish his duties. He was a devoted husband and father and always put his family first. He is survived by a daughter, Diane Ferschoff and a son, Bill Ferschoff, Jr., both of Ruston, LA. He is also survived by his "adopted" son and daughter, Terry Williams and Kathy Day Williams of Bastrop. The family wishes to express thanks and gratitude to Dr. Cox and the staff of Lagniappe Health Care for their care of our beloved father. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Williams, Bonner Bordelon, Evan Bordelon, Tommy Hankins and George Winnon. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Floyd, Boots Gladney, C.L. Givens, Bernie Turner, Andy Coats, John Crowe, David Jester, J.P. Hattaway, Joel Boles, Elva Greer and David Ogden
