Funeral services for Mrs. Cora JoAnn Owens, age 80, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Owens, a homemaker and member of Central Missionary Baptist Church, passed away, Thursday, August 27, 2015. She was a walking angel and was very strong in her faith. She loved gardening, raising flowers and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Janice Anderson and Rita Owens Cross; sons, Chris Owens and wife Donna, Charles Owens and wife Suzanne, Earl Owens and wife Debbie; sister, Betty Godair and husband Larry; brother, Earl Speaks and wife Clora Mae; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Owens is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Owens; father, Samuel Rueben Speaks; mother, Cora Mildred Owen; Step Father, Dewey Owen, Sister, Mary Frances Coyle and Son-in-law, Steve Anderson. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her grandsons.
