Obituary of Helen Yeldell Rawls

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Yeldell Rawls, age 95, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 14, 2015, in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Cle`lie Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Bartholomew Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Rawls, a resident of Bastrop, LA and a homemaker, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015. Mrs. Rawls was a lifelong member of Bartholomew United Methodist Church where she served many years as a secretary and treasurer. She was known as a great cook and seamstress. Mrs. Rawls is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, L.E. Rawls; parents, Emmett E. and Agnes Lassiter Yeldell; siblings, Ancel, Ulma, Frank, Doris, Marguerite, and Hazel; and son-in-law, William Brown. Mrs. Rawls is survived by two daughters, Linda Kay Rawls Duerson and husband Rev. George of Metarie, LA, Diane Rawls Brown of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Dr. Douglas Duerson and wife Sharon, Denise Duerson Sheffield and husband Joe, Eric Brown and wife Ann; great grandchildren, Wesley and Claire Duerson, Jodi, Amber, Ashley, and Johnathon Sheffield; one sister-in-law, Norma Rawls Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Goldens. Serving as pallbearers will be Lonnie Hughes, Dr. Richard Russell, Dennis Kelly, Jack Caughley, and grandsons, Eric Brown and Dr. Douglas Duerson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bartholomew U.M.C., 2209 Gemini Dr. Bastrop, LA 71220.
