Obituary of Guy Douglas Robinson

Funeral services for Mr. Guy Douglas Robinson are scheduled for 2 PM, Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Loch Arbor Baptist Church, with Rev. William Sikes and Rev. Andy Myrick officiating. Interment and committal service will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, August 6, 2016, from 5 - 8 PM at the church. Mr. Robinson, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, at the age of 77. He is preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Henrietta Robinson; step-parents, Bill and Birdie Mae Johnson; and sister, Marnell Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Gloria June Robinson; daughters, Julie Bowe and husband Steve, of Texarkana, TX and Jill Robinson of Bastrop; sons, Jeffery "Guy" Robinson and wife Dianne, of Monroe, LA and Jay "Douglas" Robinson and wife Cheryl of Bastrop; eleven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. Mr. Robinson was a member of the Loch Arbor Baptist Church and a retiree of International Paper Company and the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office. He served for nine years as a reserve deputy, and then, at the age of sixty-two, graduated from the police academy and began his service as a full-time deputy, until his retirement. He was a Untied States Veteran, having served in the Army, National Guard, and Air Force Reserves. He had a love of wood-working and dearly loved his grandchildren and family. Serving as pallbearers will be: Mike Tubbs, Brian Shoemaker, Danny McGrew, Chris Deshazo, Jeremy Streeter and Scott Culp. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Loch Arbor Baptist Church.
