Obituary of Mary Rebecca Allen Takewell

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Rebecca Allen Takewell are scheduled for 2 PM, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Todd Wooden officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 PM until service time Wednesday. Mrs. Takewell was a native of Santa Rita, New Mexico. She was born June 6, 1922 and went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 22, 2016. She lived in Fort Bayard, New Mexico, Hico and Pecos, Texas, before her family moved to Alto, Louisiana in 1935. Mary graduated from Mangham High School in 1940. She married Albert R. Takewell in 1941 and moved to Bastrop, Louisiana. She was a long-time member of New Friendship Baptist Church and a member of the Mer Rouge Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Mary worked as a bookkeeper and retired from Jordan's Exxon. She is preceded in death by her parents, James "Jim" and Hilda Thomason Allen; her husband, Albert Russell Takewell; Son Jimmy R. Takewell; daughter, Jean Takewell; and sister, Dorothy "Dot" Jones. Mrs. Takewell is survived by her brother, James William "Bill" Allen of Canyon Lake, TX; two sisters, Rosalie Emerson, of Monticello, AR, and Barbara Jamison, of Benton, AR; and several nieces and nephews and their children. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
