Mr. Frank passed away Spetember 18, 2016 at his home in Bastrop, LA. He was born October 27, 1933 to Zelma Hughes Day and Robert Henry Day and step-mother Virginia Youngblood Day. Many knew him as Sonnyboy or Frank. He served his counrty in the United States Army and he is a retiree of the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Department and Texas Gas Transmission Corp. He was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Quarter Horse Foundation. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Katie Marie Day; daughters, Debbie Day Rogers and husband Gale of Bastrop, LA, Lisa Day Hughes and husband Roy of Bastrop, LA; adopted children, Hardy Gene Gunter and wife Denise, Philip Wayne Brown and Gavin Gunter; grandson, Phillip Henry Willis; great grandchildren, Luke and Jacob Willis. He retired after 37 years as district supervisor. He then started Day Quarter Horse Ranch but due to the decline in the value of horses he retired it. He always had dogs, especially walker hounds and loved running his dogs during deer season. Mr. Day went to work for the sheriffs department at 70 years old and graduated from the police academy at 72 earning a B plus on his post test and the sharp shooter trophy. He retired at 82 due to health conditions. He loved life but the last years of his life were not kind to him. He is not struggling to breathe and his pain is gone. He will be missed by many but no one will miss him as much as his wife, Katie, who held his hand in his final moments.
