William Paramore Douglass, Jr. was a native of Bastrop. His parents were William Paramore Douglass, Sr. and Opal Montgomery Douglass. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, where he earned a BS degree in Marketing and Management in 1952. He married Betty Parker in 1955 after they met in Virginia Beach. Bill joined International Paper Company in 1956 after serving in the United States Navy. After completion of the International Paper Sales Training Program, he served in various marketing assignments of increasing responsibility in New York, Atlanta, Dallas, and San Francisco. Within International Paper, he worked in Bleached Board and Specialties, Industrial Papers, and Paper Group Sales Organizations. Bill was named Southwest Regional Manager with headquarters in Dallas in 1966 and served in that capacity until 1972. In 1972, he was named Western Regional Manager in International Paper's Burlingame California office and served in that capacity until 1976. In 1976, he joined Butler Paper in Phoenix, Arizona as Sales Manager, Bill returned to Dallas in 1987 and worked at Bayliss Paper. Bill enjoyed all types of hunting alongside his two hunting dogs, Smoky and Raven. Bill is survived by his two children, Susan (Douglass) Zaffarano (and husband Steve Zaffarano) and William D. Douglass and his grandchildren, Bryce and Morgan Zaffarano. Memorial gifts in his memory can be given to Ducks Unlimited by phone 800-45-DUCKS or by visiting www.ducks.org. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, October 28, 2016 at Christ Church Cemetery in Bastrop, LA.
