Funeral services for Mr. Jamie Jones, Sr., age 81, of Bastrop, are scheduled for 10 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. Greg Carroll and Richard Gambill officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM in Sharon Cemetery, Magee, MS, with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating.  Service are under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.

Mr. Jones, was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church. He loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Jones was a retired educator of forty years. He was retired Principal of twelve years in Mississippi, twenty-eight years in Morehouse Parish and also served five years as the GED Instructor at the Morehouse Parish Detention Center. Mr. Jones served as a Reserve Deputy for the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office since 1985.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Jean Jones; daughter, Cynthia Summers and husband Leo; sons, James Edward “Eddie” Jones and wife Linda, Jamie Jones, Jr. And wife Xina; brother, Rev. Johnny Jones and wife Ann; grandchildren, Jordan Jones, Joshua Jones, Jacob Jones, Bryce Jones; great grandchildren, Luke Jones, Blake Jones, Aurora Jones, Kinslee Jones, Ariel Jones and Adeline Jones.

Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Johnnie Pearl Jones and grandson, Andrew Jones.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Charles Carroll, Bryce Jones, Jordan Jones, Joshua Jones, Jacob Jones, Eddie Jones and Jamie Jones, Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church at 620 East Madison Ave. Bastrop, LA 71220.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Goldens.
