Obituary of L. Virgil White

Funeral services for Mr. L. Virgil "Buddy" White are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 16, 2018, the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Justin Akers and Bro. Bobby White officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 15, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Golden’s.

Mr. White passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the age of 89. He retired from the International Paper Company as a Blacksmith and Welder after forty-three and a half years. He was a member of the Upper Room Church Ministries who loved to hunt, fish, and travel with his wife in their camper. Mr. White was a loving father and grandfather who will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his son, Virgil L. White; daughters, Linda Durr, Vicki Gregory, and Barbara Kesey and husband Ken; grandchildren, Neely Cathey and husband Chris, Wayland Durr, Marcus Thomas, and Cody Gregory; great-grandchildren, Emma Wilkerson, Eliza Thomas, Tyler Tubbs, Paige Gregory Swayze and husband B.J., and Hope Gregory; great-great-grandchildren, Calyx Swayze and Lillian Tubbs.

Mr. White is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Annie Laura McDonald White; siblings, Charles Russell White, Earnest Ray White, Essie May Burnitt, Ester White, George Jurls White, Jesse James White, Joslie Esteel Burnett, Mildred Ethel Jones, and Myrtle Christine Crumley; son-in-law, Bennie Gregory; grandson, Cade Gregory and wife Christy Boone Gregory; parents, Samuel Ebert White and Annie Mae Sheeley White.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wayland Durr, Marcus Thomas, Cody Gregory, Tyler Tubbs, Chris Cathey, and B.J. Swayze. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Mindling and Ken Kesey.
