Funeral services for Johnny Ray McVoy, age 69, will be held Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 2 PM at First Assembly with Bro. Dusty Walker and Bro. Ezra Cook officiating.
Johnny, a resident of Bastrop and retired from International Paper Company, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Johnny was a member of First Assembly where he served as a deacon. He loved his Lord and Savior and his family dearly. He was a man that stood up for what he believed and was a man of high principals. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He was a great provider for his family and loved to travel. He was lovingly told that he had gasoline in his veins. He loved music, playing his guitar and singing. He also was a member of Cox Hunting Club.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Martha McVoy; a brother, James; and a sister, Lillian.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joycelyn McVoy; a daughter Amy Smith; son, Colby McVoy and wife Lizz, and son, Jared McVoy; a sister, Margie Busby; three grandchildren, David Smith, Connor McVoy, and Kalyn McVoy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Kelly, Delton Stover, Ricky Parrott, Mike White, Monty Shockey, Garlan Nugent, and Ronnie Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Bro. David Sistrunk, Don Sistrunk, and Bobby Goodwin.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Saturday at Golden Funeral Home.
