Obituary of James C. Dove, Sr.

Mr. James C. Dove Sr., a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the age of eighty-eight. Mr. Dove, or better known by his CB radio handle, "Gopher", had been employed by Morehouse General Hospital in the maintenance division and also spent eight years working on a tugboat. He had a good and generous heart and was always willing to help someone truly in need. He is preceded in death by Willie Mae Dove, his wife of fifty-years, four months, and sixteen days, and he considered this his greatest accomplishment in life. Additionally are his parents, Curtis Napoleon Dove, Sr and Wessie Morgan Dove; granddaughter, Sarah Dove; and great-granddaughter, Sora Tyler. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his daughter, Jamela Zimmerman, son, James C. Dove Jr., and wife Deborah, along with five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
