Memorial services for Essie Mae Young are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Dow Shelton Young, Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Young, a resident of Mer Rouge, LA, and retired CNA, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the age of seventy-one. She was a member of the Daughters of the Legionnaires, and enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, karaoke, and playing cards (especially Battle).
Mrs. Young is survived by her son, Casey Young, and wife Karrie of Mer Rouge, LA; sisters, Brenda Wooldridge of Pine Bluff, AR, Louise Kendall of Bastrop, LA, and Barbara Goodman of Oak Grove, LA; brothers, Ronnie Young, Gary Young, and wife Kim of Bastrop, LA, and Dow Young, and wife Angie of Mer Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Cage Stanfill, Luke Stanfill, and Jessica Stanfill; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Shelia Counts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dow Shelton Young and Annie Ruth Frisby; brothers, Terry Lynn Young, Jimmy Wayne Young, Billy Joe Young, and Don Wayne Young.
