Obituary of Melanie Michelle Stewart

Funeral services for Melanie Michelle Stewart are scheduled for 2 PM Monday, April 14, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Casey Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM. Mrs. Stewart, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the age of fifty-eight. She enjoyed vacationing, especially in Florida, and watching her boys play sports. She was always there encouraging them and being supportive. Her dog, Kilo, held a special place in her heart. Mrs. Stewart will be deeply missed by her family and all those that knew her. She is survived by her fiancé, Ras McSwain of West Monroe, LA; parents, Clifford and Melba Petty of Bastrop, LA; sons, Ashton McSwain, Aaron McSwain, and Drayden McSwain, all of West Monroe, LA; brother, Clifford Petty, Jr. of Bastrop, LA; aunts, Gail Welch of Hamburg, AR, Sandra Riels, West Monroe, LA; uncle, Mike Riels, and wife Elsie of Owatha, OK; cousins, Jana Trichel, Tyler Trichel ,Melissa Riels, Sydney Blackstock, Cody Welch, and Rayne Welch. Mrs. Stewart is preceded in death by her grandmother, Doris Riels; uncle, Bobby Riels; and cousin, Neely Donald. Serving as pallbearers will be Ras McSwain, Aaron McSwain, Ashton McSwain, Drayden McSwain, Daniel Davidson, and Scyler Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Trichel and Donavan Davidson.
