Obituary of James Russell Sawyer, Sr

Mr. James Russell “Jim” Sawyer, Sr., passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the age of sixty-two. He was a retired roofer and resident of Bastrop, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Dollie Sawyer; and brother, Henry “Buzz” Sawyer. Survivors include his son, James Russell Sawyer, Jr, and wife Carissa; brother, Rickey Sawyer; and sister-in-law, Mabel “Pudney” Sawyer. Jim loved being with family and enjoyed visiting with them. He was a person that never met a stranger and was everyone’s friend. There was no one that he wasn’t willing to help and he always enjoyed making people laugh. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. Private memorial services will take place at a later date.
