Obituary of Glenda Sue Porter

Funeral services for Glenda Sue Porter, age 73, of Bastrop, LA will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Brother Casey Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Causey Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5PM until 7PM Monday evening at Golden Funeral Home.
Glenda Sue Porter, born on October 29, 1951, in Rayville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her home on April 17, 2025, in Bastrop, Louisiana, surrounded by family and loved ones. She was a resident of Bastrop, and had a camp on the Saline River in Johnsville, Arkansas and another camp on Lake Chicot in Lake Village, AR. She was a beloved member of her community and a cherished friend to many. She loved the American Legion and Veterans, and served as past President of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
Glenda was known for her adventurous spirit and love for life and the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, she cherished the time spent in the woods or on the lakes and rivers, where she found joy and tranquility. Her hobbies included cooking and canning and sharing her delicious creations with family and friends.
A compassionate soul, Glenda was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel warm and welcome, embodying a spirit of kindness and support that resonated with all who knew her. Glenda's infectious smile, beautiful green eyes, and genuine warmth made her a friend to all, and she never met a stranger.
Glenda’s educational journey was one of perseverance. After years of dedication, she proudly completed her high school education and later pursued studies in Medical Coding, achieving her goal with determination. As a lifelong homemaker, Glenda treasured the moments spent with her family, particularly her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly and husband David Johnson, Lee and wife Zhailanee Savage, and Karen Savage Lowry. Glenda was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Chris and Steven Hollis, Destiny Simpson, Dustin Savage, Danielle Diffee, Dean Savage, Delayna Savage, Deanna Savage, Ken Johnson, Tyler Courson, Corbin and wife Kaylee Jo Sistrunk, and Josie Huntsman, and she is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Mike and wife Linda Sudduth, a sister, Wanda and husband Richard Carpenter, a brother Eric and wife Tasha Heath, and Alice and husband Jimmy Arnauld, along with a host of nieces, nephews and many life-long friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold G. Porter of Bastrop; her mother, Syble Lane Frith Hightower of Bastrop; her father, Euell Sudduth Jr. and siblings John David Sudduth and Melissa Diane Marler, all of Bastrop, Louisiana.
Glenda will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will remember her for her generous spirit, her love for life and nature, and her unwavering support.
The pallbearers in attendance will be: Tyler Courson, Corbin Sistrunk, David Johnson, Chuck Morgan, Scott Hall, and Grant Vaugn.
