Obituary of Grady Harold Wilson

Funeral services for Mr. Grady Harold Wilson are scheduled for 2 PM, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Dennis Hackler officiating. Mr. Wilson, a resident of Bastrop, was born September 27, 1936, and passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, surrounded by his family, after a short illness, at the age of eighty-eight.
Mr. Wilson had worked in the lab at the International Paper Company mill and was also a businessman who retired from the Louisiana Job Service Office in 2001. He was a proud US Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to mow and tend to his yard. His favorite hobby was fishing, but he also enjoyed gardening and hunting. He loved animals, but was especially fond of his dogs. He was an active member of the Green Acres Baptist Church. He was a great performer and enjoyed being in numerous plays at the Rose Theater.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Grady P. Wilson and Vera Gregory Wilson; son, Perry Mark Wilson; and a very special nephew, Kelly Gregory Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Heather Wilson Rutkowski, and husband Brad; Heather’s mom, Mary Kay Cockrell; sister Louise Wilson Smith, and husband Jimmy; nephews, Jimbo Smith, and wife Lisa, David Smith, and wife Autumn, Cheryl Delamar Smith, (wife of the late Kelly G. Smith), and Ricky Bearden; along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Lagniappe Healthcare and Premier Hospice for their dedicated care of their loved one.
There will be time of visitation preceding the service, beginning at 1 PM.
