Funeral services for James O. “Jim” Webb are scheduled for 2 PM Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Bonita Road Baptist Church, (7204 Pine Grove Loop Rd, Bastrop, LA 71220) with Bro. Andy Myrick and Bro. Casey Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM. Mr. Webb, known as “Jim” or “Webb” to friends and family, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the age of ninety-two. He grew up in Spearsville, LA where his family were farmers. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy serving in the Korean War. He then attended Louisiana Tech to study civil engineering. Jim was always active in his community participating in many fund-raising events throughout the years. He had a love for singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday school, and ministering to others. He was an amazing cook and was famous for his buttermilk biscuits and sweet potato pies. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bluegrass gospel music. He rarely met a stranger and had a unique and infectious laugh that could fill a room. He was very loved and will be missed by many. Jim is survived by his children, Randy Webb, Linda Webb-Smith, Mitzie Hammons, and Jennifer Webb, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Zelda Webb; parents; son, Gary Webb; brother, Enoch Dorchester Webb; and sister, Jennivive Dorthy Webb. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Paul Casabonne, Casey McGrew, Dillon Reeves, Christian Hester, Dewayne Jordan, Donald Jordan.
