Obituary of C. L. Mayberry

Funeral services for Mr. C.L. Mayberry are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, May 9, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Travis Arant and Bro. Joe Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove South Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service Friday.
Mr. Mayberry, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the age of seventy. He owned and operated his own trucking company for forty-seven years and was also in the antique and oriental rug business with his father, R.L. Mayberry, for many years. He was an avid fisherman and very patriotic. C.L. loved everyone he met. He was never one to judge and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was the backbone of the family and cherished every minute he spent with them. C.L. had a special bond with his sons-in-law, Jamie and Kary. They were the sons he never had, and he loved them dearly. C.L. truly was one of a kind and he will be missed dearly!
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Linda Mayberry; daughters, Angel McCain and husband Brandon of Greenville, MS, Liz Purdy and husband Jamie of Bastrop, LA, Julia Carroll and husband Kary of Eros, LA; mother, Ruth Mayberry; sister, Ruth Tully and husband Tanny of Bastrop, LA; brother, R.L. Mayberry of Bastrop, LA; brother-in-law, Ronnie Lively; nephews, Brandon Tully of Bastrop, LA, Shelby Mayberry of Bastrop, LA, Carlie Mayberry of Monroe, LA; nieces, Sela Mayberry of Bastrop, LA, Anna Mayberry of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Juliana Skeens of Sterlington, LA, Bobby Putman of Rayville, LA, Mandy Putman of West Monroe, LA, Caleb Clingen of Huntsville, AR, Iris Glynn Sliger of Lafayette, GA, Katie Uherek of Crossett, AR, Jackie Hodges of Eros, LA, Karlie Guess of Monroe, LA, Dakota Carroll of Monroe, LA, Zach Carroll of Monroe, LA, Cade Lackey of Greenville, MS, Sloan Lackey of Greenville, MS, Reese Lackey of Greenville, MS, Bransen McCain of Greenville, MS, Erin McCain of Greenville, MS; and twelve great grandchildren.
Mr. Mayberry is preceded in death by his father, R.L. Mayberry; daughter, Missi Sliger; paternal grandparents, C.A. Mayberry and Rodella Mayberry; maternal grandparents, Levon Robinson and Lessie Robinson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cade Lackey, Bobby Putman, Caleb Clingen, Dakota Carroll, Zach Carroll, and Trever Sisk. Honorary pallbearers are Clifton Bryant, Brandon Tully, Sheldon Edwards, and Dennis Carney.
