Obituary of Mary E Porter

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Porter are scheduled for 2 PM, Friday, May 23, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Tim Post officiating. A time of visitation with the family will take place from 5 -7 PM, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Porter, a resident of Bastrop, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2025, at the age of ninety-one. She was a registered nurse, after completing her registered nursing degree at the age of sixty-five. She worked at numerous medical facilities in Bastrop and Monroe for many years. She was employed at the Cherry Ridge Guest Care until the age of eighty-two, She loved singing Gospel music and was an expert seamstress, as well as, a very good cook. Those who preceded her in death were her husband, Thurman Porter; son, Tony Porter; and granddaughters, Delilah Martin and Felisa Hernandez. Survivors include her children, Sharon Mitcham, and husband Steve Mitcham, Teresa Preston, Martez Walters, and husband Steve Walters, Linda Hernandez, and husband Antonio Hernandez, and Carlton Porter, and wife Rebecca Porter; sister, Lola Smith; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Serving the family as honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Hogan, Larry Porter, Casey Martin, Eric Hendrix, and Ethan Crawford.
