Funeral services for Betty Jane Garrett-Evans are scheduled for 10 AM Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Interment will be in Hughes Chapel Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Goldens. Jane was born on June 9, 1937, and passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at the age of eighty-eight. She dedicated many years of her life to the Morehouse Parish School System, where she worked as a school bus driver and touched the lives of countless children in the community. Jane was a lifelong and faithful member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church, where she found great joy singing in the choir. Known for her warm spirit and lively personality, Jane lived her life with grace, humor, and a love for adventure. She was an avid traveler who often said, “You have to make the most of what you have to work with.” She brought that attitude into everything she did—whether it was spending time with family, sewing with exceptional skill, or competing on her bowling team. She was a strong, classy, and joyful woman who lit up every room she entered. Her zest for life and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Jane is survived by her sons, Craig Evans and his wife Regina, and Brent Evans; cherished grandchildren, Lee Evans and his wife Kari, Samantha Muro and her husband Brandon; and Ashton Evans; great-grandchildren, Madison Colvin, Molly Evans, Wyatt Muro, and Isla Muro. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Huey Evans; son, Blake Evans; parents, Olga and Henry Garrett; and brother, Gary Garrett. Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Evans, Ashton Evans, Jack Atkins, Colton Perkins, Brandon Muro and Billy Jordan. Jane was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed—especially by her family, who will forever cherish their memories of her.
