Obituary of Mary Virginia Bailey Pollard

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Virginia Bailey Pollard are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Memorial Methodist Church in Bastrop, LA. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, from 5 PM until 7 PM, at Golden Funeral Home. Mary Virginia Bailey Pollard, born August 29, 1926, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025 surrounded by family in Merritt Island, Florida. She was the daughter of Howard and Rubie Bailey and wife of the late Dr. Ted Pollard. Mary was a founding member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Bastrop, Louisiana where she served as church treasurer for many years and was president of the United Methodist Women for multiple years. She also founded a vocational nursing program benefiting Morehouse Parish. In her younger years, Mary bowled in a league, but later found joy working in her yard. Mary was an avid gardener and found joy watching her Azaleas and Camillas bloom. Mary is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Ted Pollard; infant daughter, Laura Frances; daughter, Mary Joyce Townsend; daughter, Helen Carol Tubbs; her parents, Howard F. Bailey and Rubie W. Evans Bailey; brother, Williams Bailey; sister, Lucille Dean. Mary is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Solomon (Ray Solomon); daughter, Virginia Kittredge (Jerry Kittredge); grandsons Heath Holley, Sean Solomon, Jon Tubbs, Christopher Kittredge, Benjamin Kittredge; Granddaughters Melanie Tubbs, Ashley Langford, Jennifer Solomon, Mary Kittredge; nine great grandchildren and one great granddaughter due in August.
