Obituary of Guy Russell "Papa" Holloway

Funeral services for Mr. Guy Russell “Papa” Holloway, age 97 are scheduled for 2 PM Monday, August 4, 2025, at Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Strong officiating. Interment will follow in Marion Cemetery, Marion, LA. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until 2 PM Monday, prior to the service at Goldens. Mr. Russell, a resident of Bastrop, LA passed away Monday, July 28, 2025. He retired from the Bastrop Daily Enterprise as a press operator. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee, watching western movies and listening to country music. He was the kindest, sweetest and thoughtful person as well as a family-oriented man. His family truly was his most prized possession. He is survived by his daughters, Glenda Darlene Couch and husband Del Wayne Couch, Crystal Gail Bolin and husband Chris Bolin, and Christy Lynn Holloway; son, William B Holloway and wife Sharron Holloway; grandchildren, Eric Wayne Couch, Julia Fletcher, Jennifer Nicole Couch Hopkins and husband Tyler Hopkins, Rebecca Fletcher Acosta and husband Brandon Acosta, Anthony Holloway, Julie Wilson and husband Jacob Wilson, Elsie Rose Holloway, Heather Holloway, Temprance Adelaide Bolin; great grandchildren, Alexis Tumbleson-Raney and husband Sam Raney, Kyle McCarver and wife Audrey McCarver, Keeton McCarver and wife Maya McCarver, Garrett Tumbleson, Kaleb McCarver, Roselle Holloway, Mirabella Acosta, Micah Wilson, Jalie Wilson and Meredith Acosta; great-great grandchildren, Miller Raney and Luke McCarver. Mr. Russell is preceded in death by his wife, Connie Sue Holloway; daughter, Marilyn Joyce Holloway; parents Olby Belden and Maggie Eugenia Russell Holloway; siblings Bertie Holloway Labaganari, Clara Mae Holloway Berry, Faye Holloway Moeller, Charles A. Holloway, Hewitt Holloway, Olby Belden Holloway Jr. and Agnes Holloway Rochetti. Serving as pallbearers are, William Holloway, Chris Bolin, Brandon Acosta, Christopher Smith, Larry Acosta, Steven Seth Reed and Butch Holloway Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Moeller and Jimmy Moeller. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Golden Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
