Funeral services for Mr. John Charles Townsend are scheduled for 10 AM Monday, August 4, 2025 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Post officiating. There will be a private interment at Christ Church Cemetery.
Mr. Townsend, a retired delivery driver, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the age of eighty. He was a people person and outdoorsman and he would fish anywhere. Mr. Townsend enjoyed watching LSU football and was also an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
He is survived by his sons, Borden Townsend and wife Renee, and Joe Townsend; sister, Joyce Goyne; grandchildren, Alexis Cockrell, Aaron Townsend, Michael Lemons; and great-grandchildren, Jones David Cockrell, Clarke Lane Cockrell, Daniel Grayson Lemons, and Mason Blake Lemons.
Mr. Townsend is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Townsend; parents, John T. and Myrtle Mae Townsend.
