Betty and I became friends when she started coming to Victory Baptist Church and joined our Ladies Sunday School Class. We are a close-knit group of women and love each other. I can say that Betty was a very gifted Card Writer in our Card Ministry, and I loved getting cards from her. Merridith is also gifted in that way, and we all love her too. My love and prayers go out to the family.

I have many fond memories of Ms. Betty from my youth. As my high school best friend - Michelle’s mom - I spent many a day and night in her home. She made the best bacon cheese cornbread - I wish I could recreate it - but no matter how hard I try, it’s impossible to match hers. I loved hearing her sing and I recall singing along with her to Reba when she was driving us around. She was the kindest, most forgiving person and always had a hug ready to give - no matter the situation. Heaven gained an amazing angel - but I know she will be greatly missed. Michelle - you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for this great loss. Betty was truly a beautiful person inside and out. She had the singing voice of an angel and never an unkind word to say. When I was little, I would stay the night at her house with Meredith and Michelle—it was always such a fun time. I still remember how much Michelle loved The Beach Boys, and we would listen to them and laugh together.
Even after I moved to Maryland, Betty and I stayed in touch. I always tried to see her and Aunt Ruth whenever I came back home. Betty and I would spend hours talking, and whenever she knew I was going through a hard time, she would gently remind me to “keep my chin up,” because she knew that’s what my Daddy always told me.
I will miss this beautiful lady so much. Anyone who knew her was truly blessed to know such a kind and loving soul.
Meredith and Michelle, I love you both dearly. I’m so sorry I can’t be there in person, but please know I’ll be with you in my heart. You are always in my prayers.
With love,
Gina

I grew up and spent time with Betty and considered her a good friend. I lost contact after graduation and I moved off. I often thought of her and wondered where she was. I’m sad to read that she is no longer with us. It seems she had a good life. Betty was a very sweet friend and I know she will be missed by her family and those close to her. May God give you peace.
