Funeral services for Michael Brakefield are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Kevin Crim officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM.
Mr. Brakefield, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the age of seventy-eight. He retired from Graphic Packaging after twenty years of service, and had several hobbies including: playing golf, going hunting, and umpiring baseball games!
Mr. Brakefield is survived by his children, Lester David Brakefield and wife Ladonna, Dana Spigner and husband Darby, Todd Wayne Brakefield and wife Becky; brother, Larry Brakefield, and wife Bonnie; grandchildren, Michelle Brakefield, Chelsea Cheek, and husband Tyler, Mandy Spigner, Brooke Brakefield, Brylee Brakefield, John David Brakefield; great grandchildren, C.J. Barrett, Justin Barrett, Jacie Dykes, Josie Cheek, and Brecken Cheek.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John David Brakefield and Olivia Brakefield; and sister, Mona Brantley.
