Obituary of James W. Conley

Funeral services for James W. “Jim” Conley are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2025 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Hackler and Bro. Roger Johnson officiating. A time of visitation will be held Monday, September 15, 2025 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Goldens. Mr. Conley, a retiree from the U. S. Department of Agriculture, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at the age of seventy-nine. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. Conley loved his Lord and spent time serving at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church, where he was a member. Mr. Conley was an active member of the Optimist Club of Bastrop and served as past president of the Morehouse Chamber of Commerce. He was also always involved in the “pea cookings” that were held in the area. Mr. Conley is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Margaret Conley; daughter, Michelle Robinson and husband, Mark; son, Kevin Conley and wife, Heather; grandchildren, Patrick Conley, Caleb Banks, Aaron Conley, Reed Conley, Mallory Williams, Mauri Lee, Garrett Lee, and Stephanie Hamilton; great grandchildren, Bryson Conley, Briggs Conley, Annastyn Conley, Macon Williams, and Brock Williams. He is preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Lourean Conley. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Patrick Conley, Caleb Banks, Aaron Conley, Reed Conley, Jared Williams, and Garrett Lee. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Tullos, Jack McCormack, Kenneth Reynolds, and Lynn Sanders. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Premier Hospice for there wonderful care of Mr. Conley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cherry Ridge Baptist Church Operation Christmas Child Shoebox ministry.
