Funeral services for Mr. Gene Douglas Day are scheduled for 1 PM Friday, September 19, 2025, at Paron Baptist Church. Bro. Jeff Hurst officiating. Interment will follow in Ouachita City Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Friday from 11 AM - 1 PM prior to the service. Mr. Gene passed away September 14, 2025, at the age of eighty-four. He and his wife Rachel were extremely close to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They watched and studied Dr. Charles Stanley daily. They also loved their family as Christ loved the church. Mr. Day was a United States Army veteran who served in the 157th Battalion, 37th Artillery, in Anchorage, AK. Mr. Gene was a gentle giant and the backbone of the Day family. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children, Danny Gene Day, Rachel Gayla Day Gambino, and Terry Douglas Day and wife, Tracy; sister, Gayle Day Gorman; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Day; grandchildren, Morgan Day and Ashley, Meagan Day Payne, Sebastian Day, Jenny Welch, Kelly Welch, Nicholas Gambino, Savannah Day, and Devin, Melissa Holley and Timothy Holley; adopted children, Tracy Cubbit, Candy Holley and husband Tim, and Rob Day; special nephews, Johnny Day and Robert Day; special niece, Toni Jean Conway; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and family. Mr. Day is preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty years, Rachel Ann Williams Day; mother, Jessie Wyles Day; brothers, David Day, Nolan Day, Stafford Day, Huey Day, Aubrey Day and wife Muriel; sisters, Marie Day Cassles, LaDell Day Swillie and husband J.W., and Joyce Day Armstrong Gorman and husband Frank; brothers-in-law, Frank Gorman, Jr., and William Gorman; granddaughter, Megan Jackson; niece, Lynn Day Bolden; and nephew, Dennis Day. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Doug Underwood, Phillip Day, Justin Day, Sebastian Day, Tommy Armstrong, Nicholas Gambino, and Mitchell Gorman. Dylan Underwood will serve as honorary pallbearer.
