Obituary of James E. Turner

Graveside funeral service for James E. Turner are scheduled for 2 PM Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Red Wing Cemetery with Bro. Doug Edwards officiating. A time of visitation will be held Sunday from 12 noon - 1:30 PM at Golden Funeral Home prior to the graveside service. Mr. Turner, a retired Heavy Equipment Operator, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of eighty-five. He was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Turner loved cutting horses and training horses, running dogs and fox hunting, but his greatest love was his family and spending time with them. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Swayze, Linda Nelson and husband Timothy, both of Bastrop, LA, Rita Stanley and husband, Kary of Beekman, LA, and Sandra Dement and husband, Ronald of Start, LA; brothers, Leroy Turner and wife, Bea, and Colin Turner and wife, Joann both of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, B.J. Swayze, Erick Turner, Tad Stanley, Shane Swayze, and T.J. Nelson; great grandchildren, Calyx Swayze, Addisyn Turner, Joshua Turner, Weston Middlebrooks, Maddie Grace Deere, Kolt Swayze, and Kennedy Swayze. Mr. Turner is preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Turner; parents, Estus and Jessie Turner; sisters, Sherry Petty and Mary Harper; brother, Sam Turner; and son-in-law, Byron Swayze. Serving the family as pallbearers will be B.J. Swayze, Erick Turner, Tad Stanley, Shane Swayze, Ernie Turner, and T.J. Nelson. Wesley Gray and Marvin Ricks will serve as honorary pallbearers.
