Where do I begin? Mrs. Johnson was my first grade teacher at Kelly Elementary and one of my absolute favorites. One of the reasons why I wanted to become a teacher. I vividly remember her quilt on the rocking chair in the reading corner, her grocery store math center, baking cranberry bread for Thanksgiving, and playing "Doggy, Doggy Where's Your Bone with chalkboard erasers as the bone. This woman was the epitome of southern charm and grace. Her husband, Mr. Johnson taught me gifted and 5th & 6th grade. Oh, the Civil War renactments we went to and the endless field trips to the Vicksburg Military Park. This duo was a major part of my childhood. I am very thankful for both of them pouring into me. Their legacy lives on in the endless lives they touched as teachers. She was such a precious soul & he was a gentle giant.
