Funeral services for Earline Rushing are scheduled for 11 AM Saturday, January 17, 2026 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Rubin Weaver and Bro. Jeff May officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove South Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 5 PM- 7 PM Friday, January 16, 2026 at Goldens.
Earline Rushing was born on October 25, 1937 and passed from this life on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Rushing dedicated her life to education, serving as a respected paraprofessional in Morehouse Parish for thirty years, primarily at East Side Elementary School. She was affectionately known to many students as “Mrs. Gilbert” and later continued her passion for teaching by tutoring students in her home. She truly loved her work and taught countless young people the invaluable gift of reading. Beyond her professional life, Earline loved God, her church family at Faith Baptist Church, her ladies’ group, Croswell Boutique, and most especially, her family. She was the biggest unwavering supporter of her children and grandchildren, attending as many of their games and events as she could. She was full of life and pure joy. Earline was the true definition of a life well lived!
She is survived by her husband, Herman Rushing; daughters, Tammie Smith and husband, Keith, Lisa May and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Krystal Kemp (James), Joseph Smith (Jessica), Presley Woodard (Tyler), Sheridan Hughes (Devin), and Grayson May; great-grandchildren, Maria Foster, Luke Foster (Madisson), Gunner Kemp, Kinley Smith, Eli Smith, Maybri Hughes, and Lena Woodard; great-great grandchildren, Rueger Foster and Wesson Foster; step-children, Bubba Rushing (Mary Ann), Trudy Hight, Lanell Kellick (Nicky), along with numerous step grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, and a very special niece, Betty Sue May.
Mrs. Rushing is preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Gilbert; daughter, Rhonda Gilbert Copes; parents, Clinton and Luner Tipton; brothers, Clinton Tipton, Jr., Charles Ray Tipton; sisters, Edna Wright and Gladys Adkins.
Those honored to serve as her pallbearers are Joseph Smith, Grayson May, Luke Foster, Devin Hughes, Tyler Woodard, and James Kemp.
