On behalf of our family, we truly appreciate the love, prayers, and support you’ve shown us during this difficult time. Having friends and family here means more than words can say.
We are here today to honor and remember the life of Ronald Earl Hendry, a man who lived a full life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
He was married for 61 years to our mother, Helen Ritchie Hendry. Together they built a life grounded in love, commitment, and devotion to each other and to God. He was incredibly proud of his family—his daughter Kim and her husband Michael, his son Kevin and wife Mary-Claudia, his grandsons Cole, Ty, and Cade, and his great-grandchildren John Michael, Beau, and Beckham, and very special friend, Irene Barmore. Family meant everything to him, and he took great joy in watching it grow.
Faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a lifelong member of Greenacres Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and more recently joined Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. His faith wasn’t something he just talked about—it was something he lived out daily through service, kindness, and quiet strength.
Dad proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, which is something we deeply respect. After returning home, he worked for International Paper for 15 years before starting his own tree service, which he operated for over forty years. He believed in hard work, providing for his family, and doing a job the right way.
He found joy in simple things—fishing, hunting, raising chickens, and being outdoors. Those moments brought him peace, and many of our best memories were made in those ordinary, quiet times.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward Hendry, his mother Biddie Hendry, and his sister Gloria Aswell. While we grieve his passing, we find comfort knowing he is reunited with them and is now at peace.
He wasn’t a man who sought attention, but he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He showed us the importance of faith, perseverance, humility, and love for family. His life is a legacy we will carry forward.
We will miss him deeply, but we are grateful for the years we had, the lessons he taught us, and the love he gave so freely.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Michael Cantrell, Cole Cantrell, Ty Cantrell, Cade Cantrell, Johnny Raspberry, and Mike Parker.
Honorary pallbearers are Melvin Ritchie, Randy Parker, Lavelle Vining, and Jim Farley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shoebox Ministry at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church - 1005 Cherry Ridge Road, Bastrop, LA 71220.
