Obituary of Thomas F. Oden, Jr.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Thomas F. Oden, Jr. will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 2 PM in the Hamburg Cemetery, with Bro. Tim Post and Bro. Brent Harrod officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 PM, until service time. Mr. Oden passed Friday, March 20, 2026, at the age of 90. Mr. Oden most recently was employed as a maintenance supervisor at UAM and was member of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church. He was a long-time auto mechanic and wrecker service owner and operator. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and enjoyed the outdoors in general. He enjoyed hard work as is evidenced by him not retiring until almost eighty years old. Mr. Oden was a devoted husband who loved his family, grandchildren, and especially his great grandchildren. He can easily be described as a man whose life was centered around his family and hard work. Mr. Oden is survived by his wife of 39 years, Veralyn Oden; daughter, Terri Christy; sons, Jim Guest, Sammy Oden, Brian Oden; grandchildren, Katie, Nicholas, Matthew, Allison, TJ and great grandchildren, Zoey, Davis, and Jack Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers include Terry Bierbaum, Brent Harrod, Herman Mormon, Gary Matthews, Eugie Harrell, and Corben Monzella.
