Daniel O'Neal, age 48 and resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026. He was a man who truly embraced life’s simple joys. Whether casting a line out on the water, riding the backroads with the wind at his back, or letting music fill the air around him, he found happiness in the moments that mattered most. In his younger years, he expressed his love for music by playing the trumpet, a passion that reflected his vibrant spirit. He also enjoyed skateboarding and playing baseball, always carrying with him a sense of fun and adventure.
Traveling and “keeping the roads hot” was one of his greatest pleasures, as he loved the freedom of the open road and the memories made along the way.
Above all else, he deeply loved and adored his family and friends. His heart was as big as his smile, and he never met a stranger—only friends he hadn’t yet gotten to know. He had a calming presence that could steady any storm, and his grin could light up a room. Known for giving the absolute best hugs, he made everyone feel safe, valued, and loved.
He will be missed beyond words and remembered always by those who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his children, Zachary Lusk, Danielle O’Neal, and Daniel Ethan O’Neal; mother, Cynthia Lowery; father, Billy Wayne O’Neal and wife Amanda; grandmother, Rosalee Lowery; siblings, Charles Wayne O’Neal, Charity O’Neal, Stephanie Baptiste and husband Jeremy, Elizabeth Hope Boykin and husband Zach, Christa Joy Wood, and Brandon O’Neal; granddaughter, Aubrey Lusk; uncles, Keith Lowery and James O’Neal; aunts, Sonja Harris and Laqueeta Bowser; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved pet Lilly.
Mr. O’Neal is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles Lowery; paternal grandparents, Thomas Nelson (Snooks) and Vurley O’Neal; sister, Faith Wood; uncle, Jimmy Dale O’Neal; and great-grandparents, Ray and Martha McIntyre.
