Obituary of Delores Cherry

Funeral services for Delores Cherry are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, April 4, 2026, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Shelton Morgan and Mr. JR Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 3, 2026, from 5 PM - 7 PM at Golden’s. Mrs. Cherry, a resident of Bastrop, LA, and retiree of Holsum Bakery, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at the age of seventy-four. She was a member of Collinston First Baptist Church who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed thrift shopping, playing dominos, listening to the “oldies”, and spending time with and caring for her family. Mrs. Cherry is survived by her husband Johnny M. Cherry, Sr.; daughters, Lisa Carter and husband JR of Bastrop, LA, Misty Lusby and husband Carl of Bastrop, LA, Valerie Vinson of Mobile, AL, and Wendy Stanfield of Bastrop, LA; sons, James Howard Stanfield and wife Connie of Bastrop, LA, and Johnny M. Cherry, Jr. of Bastrop, LA; sisters, Virginia Wyatt of Collinston, LA, Gloria Smith of Hamburg, AR, and Connie Porter of Bastrop, LA; brother, Cordell Dampier of Bastrop, LA; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Perry Howard Stanfield, Sr.; son, Perry Howard Stanfield, Jr.; parents, Cordell and Tina Dampier; sisters, Eva Nell Carter and Erma Jean McDowell; and brother, Bobby Ray Dampier. Serving as pallbearers will be James Howard Stanfield, Johnny Michael Cherry, Jr., Aydin Cherry, Xander Payne, Devin Cherry, Aaron Cherry, Randy Walser, Jack Cavet, and Daniel Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Carter, III, and Ronnie Grant.
