Obituary of Vivecca "Vicki" Garlington

Funeral services for Vivecca (Vicki) Garlington will be held at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop, La. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will precede beginning at 1:00 PM. Officiating the service will be Dr. Jarrett Fix and Bro. Tim Post. Mrs. Garlington, a homemaker and member of Swartz First Baptist Church, passed away on May 13, 2026 in Dallas. Vicki was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved Jesus and lived a faith-filled life! Vicki loved her soulmate and their relationship was an example to follow for her entire family. She loved her son and grandchildren with a never ending love. She loved to volunteer at her church, teaching Sunday School and devoting time in service to others on various committees over the years. In her younger years she also played the piano and sang alongside her sister for services at Victory Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church where her father, Bro. Lynn Townsend, pastored. She loved to travel with her husband, she loved “junking” or antiquing, she loved making arts and crafts, and she loved watching sports – LSU football especially, and enjoyed spending time with family. Vicki is survived by her husband of 51 years, Arthur Garlington of Swartz, La.; Son, Rob Garlington of Monroe, La.; Grandchildren, Garret Garlington, Abbey Garlington, and Ella Garlington all of Monroe, La.; her sister, Karen Rawls and husband Aubrey Rawls of Eros, LA; brother Tim Townsend, of Missouri; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Reverend Lynn Townsend and Bobbie Nell Townsend; and son Jason Garlington.
