Obituary of Jerome Bert Olive

A celebration of life for Jerome Bert Olive, fondly known as “Jerry” will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church located on 217 Harrington Street, Bastrop, LA. A time of visitation will be held at 10 AM Thursday with the Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Mr. Olive was born January 9, 1948 to Ernest Alonzo “Son” and Catherine Olive and passed away Friday, May 22, 2026 at the age of seventy-eight. He was a graduate of Union High School, Mer Rouge, LA and later graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. Mr. Olive retired from Entergy after thirty-six years of service. Cherishing his loving memories are wife, Betty Alford-Olive; children, Jerry Alonzo (Mona) Olive; Dr. Trevelyn Olive; Jessica Olive (Efrem) Craig; Chelsea Allen (Bonus Daughter); grandchildren, Jeremy Olive, Jordon Olive, Zion Craig, Kairo Craig; as well as, cousins, friends, classmates, hunting club buddies and family pet Gia as fondly called “Little Girl” by Jerry. Serving the family as pallbearers are Chuck Brown, Arthur Lewis, James Palmer, Kyonil McKee, Jr, Carl Givens, Steve Olive, and Ronald Wilhite. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Alonzo, Sheriff Mike Tubbs, Henry Lee Smith, Jeremy Olive, George Spires, Jordon Olive, and Efrem Craig. The family wishes to acknowledge Glenwood Regional Medical Center ICU Staff, the Union High Class of 1965, and Blue Buck Hunting Club for their care and compassion for Jerry. The Olive family also would like to express their sincere gratitude for your prayers, calls, texts, food, and all acts of kindness during this time.
