Phyllis wax’s quite a “tomboy” when we all played softball on the school grounds. For some reason one play stands out in my mind: one of the kids hit a grounder to Larry Wayne Jones and he scooped it up to throw it to first base, where Phyllis was ready. I can still her enthused shout to Larry’s Wayne. She yelled loud and held her glove out, “Chunk it here!” “Chunk it here!” I always admired Phyllis’ positive and upbeat outlook.
