Obituary of Bert L Blackwell

Funeral services for Mrs. Bert L Blackwell, age 89, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Dayln Helbing officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Blackwell, a retired school bus driver for Morehouse Parish School Board, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Monroe. Mrs. Blackwell was an avid bowler, and a seamstress who made quilts, hand bags, and clothing. Mrs. Blackwell was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie B Blackwell; and grandsons, Sean Michael Chaisson and Benton Wayne Blackwell. Mrs. Blackwell is survived by two daughters, Shirley Blackwell Derouen and husband Bobby of West Monroe, LA, Gwen Blackwell Wilhite of West Monroe, LA; three sons, Lonnie Wayne Blackwell and wife Wanda of Monroe, LA, Ronald G. Blackwell and wife Vivian of Monroe, LA, Ricky Lane Blackwell and wife Dera of Bastrop, LA; three sisters, Jimmie Pettis of Tulsa, OK, Dora Mae Wooden of Bonita, LA, Arlene Crenshaw of West Monroe, LA; brother, Nonnie Crenshaw of Bastrop, LA; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to Mattie Whitehead, Rev. Andy Myrick, Sharon Drumwhright, Keshia Garr, Stephanie Gardenhire, Zola Rick and Dot Braswell. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
