Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Hale Patton are scheduled for Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rosemary Stelz officiating. Interment will follow in the Old City Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. for visitation at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Patton, a life long resident of Bastrop, LA, and International Paper Company retiree, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010. He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Benner, and worked for many years at Courtesy Ford. Mr. Patton was also an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Bastrop, honorary Deputy Sheriff of Morehouse Parish, member of the American Legion - Scott L. Hood Post 51 of Bastrop, LA, and an elite member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 2277. Mr. Charles H. Patton is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Little Patton; children, Donna Lynn Defee and husband Robert of Bastrop, TX, Charles Howard Patton and wife Cathy of Monroe LA, and James Robert Patton of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Charles Patrick Defee of Shreveport, LA, Mary Allison Defee Sterner and husband Sean of Houston, TX, Charles Victor Patton and wife Christy of Monroe, LA, and David Houston Patton of Monroe, LA; five great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, George Mallory Patton and wife Martha Ann Messinger of Bastrop, LA, Lila Patton Wolfe of Bastrop, LA, and Nancy Patton Croswell of Bastrop, LA. Mr. Patton is preceded in death by his parents Charles Holly Patton and Mary Hannah Moore Patton, brother, Robert Patton, and sister, Mary Lou Patton. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Patrick Defee, Charles "Vic" Patton, David Patton, Jerry Davidson, John Defee, and Johnny Ray Smith. Dalton Knauss will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude for the expert care and compassion of the CCU staff of St. Francis Medical Center, Dr. Richard Fincher, Dr. John Bruchhaus, and Dr. Herschel Harter. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Angel Ministries Network - 509 North 2nd Street, Monroe, La. 71201.
