Obituary of William M. "Bill" Spigner

Funeral services for Mr. William M. "Bill" Spigner, age 61, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Cal Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. Mr. Spigner passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. He had worked at International Paper Company and as an employee on an oilfield drilling rig. Mr. Spigner was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and The American Legion. He was a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. His memories will be cherished by family and friends. He was known as "King of the Grill". There was a time when you said "Load Up" and he would beat you to the car. Bill loved the outdoors, cooking, camping, campfires, riding around looking for what we haven't figured out yet, sitting for hours visiting with his family and friends. He was very supportive and involved with his family. He loved the laughter and noise of kids playing and of course calling on Uncle Bill. His time and many memories will be treasured and missed by many. Mr. Spigner is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. James E. Gandy and Mr. & Mrs. George Spigner. He is survived by his parents, Jack & Ann Spigner of Bastrop, LA; son, Joshua Seth Spigner of Quitman, LA; sister, Paula Mushinski & husband Frank of Bastrop, LA; brother, Donald Spigner & wife Bonnie of Bastrop, LA; nieces, Tally Hughes & Brad of Bastrop, LA, Staci Mann & husband Randee of Bastrop, LA, Kayla Farrar & husband Thomas of Bastrop, LA; and nephews, Darby Spigner & wife Dana of Bastrop, LA, Brian Hubbard of Bastrop, LA, Cody Spigner & wife Lindzay of Bastrop, LA. Serving as pallbearers will be; Randee Mann, Jim Bob Gandy, Jr., Roy Dale Hughes, Britt Hankins, Addie Solet, and Damon Spigner. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Degate, James Cummins, and Jim Wilson.
