Obituary of Rodney Jones

Funeral services for Rodney Jones, age 53, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Sterlington, LA, with Pastor J.E. Brown and James Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Sterlington, LA. Rodney, a resident of Bastrop, LA, was born September 5, 1957. He was welcomed into a family of four sisters and three brothers. He was an ultra special child (Down's Syndrome), and captured hearts and love like a fisherman; never throwing one back. He departed this life on his birthday, Sunday, September 5, 2010. Precious memories include his extraordinary love of family and friends. He was the family counselor, social director, private investigator (snitch), Santa Claus, menu consultant (meat loaf, Zack?), and fashion critic (you need a haircut). He was wise, witty, generous, helpful, humble, open and honest, and pure in heart and mind. Rodney was an angel who walked on this earth for a brief time and left footprints on the hearts and lives of everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Eileen Jones; step-mother, LaDora Jones; and brother, James Marion Jones. Left to cherish his memories are his siblings, Zack Bush and husband Bobby, Kathryn Lutrick and husband Jerry, Randy Jones and wife Patsey, Marty Jones and wife Kathy, Trish Phillips and husband Mike, Linda Maddox and husband Lewis, Scotty Jones, Billie Price; and a multitude of other family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be John Brodnax, Seth Jones, Chris Jones, Mitch Leihr, Michael Bush, Edward Jones, Clay Matchett, and Scotty Jones.
