Obituary of James Firley "Sonny" Johnson, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. James Firley "Sonny" Johnson, Jr., age 71, of Bastrop, LA, are scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Golden Funeral Home with Dr. John Nelson Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 PM until 8 PM Friday, September 16, at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson, was a Navy veteran in Vietnam and retired employee of 38 years at Entergy. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bastrop. He is survived by his daughter, Selena Myers and husband Mike; grandchildren, Seth Myers, Trevor Jones, Chandler Jones, Shelby Brown and husband Jason; great grandchildren, Olivia Defee, Kelsey Brown; sisters, Shirlee Johnson, Bettie Hale and husband Bobby, Diane DeShazo and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his daughter, Kymberly Johnson; parents, Firley and Marie Johnson; wife, Ester Johnson and step-son, Shaye Braddock. Serving as pallbearers will be Seth Myers, Trevor Jones, Keith Perkins, Shane DeShazo, Craig Evans, Jason Brown, Gus Adkins and Ed Haltom.
