First, my condolences to Ron's family. I hope you find comfort and peace soon, and know that many friends join you in celebrating his life.
I am very proud to say that Ron was my boxing coach when I was in high school (late '90s). And he did what he did for us kids simply because he was a good and decent man.
He didn't have a conventional style or gym, and resources were limited.
But it didn't matter - he always came though. Whether it was new equipment, driving a bunch of rowdy kids to a match (some of my favorite childhood memories), or offering a friendly word or two of advice.
We respected him, and we appreciated his sacrifices.
He was a coach, a mentor, and a friend. And though he will be missed, he'll never be forgotten.
