Obituary of Dorothy Irene Scott Gray

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Irene Scott Gray are scheduled for 10 AM, Friday, February 3, 2017, at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Interment will follow in the Carter Cemetery. Mrs. Gray, a resident of Bastrop, was born June 16, 1922 in Coldwater, MS, and passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the age of ninety-four. She is preceded in death by her parents Solomon Roy and Nannie Dees Scott; sisters, Christine Scott and Rivers Scott; brother, Sidney Scott; granddaughter, Terri Gray; and her husband, William R. Gray. Mrs. Gray is survived by her children, William Gray and wife Sue Ellen, of Tioga, LA, Ted Gray and wife Theresa, of Bastrop, and Jean Cockrell, of Bastrop; brothers, Harold Scott and wife Nancy, Jessie Scott and wife Darla, and Archie Scott, all of Swartz, LA; sister, Kathleen Johnson, of Swartz, LA; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was a retired tutor for the Morehouse Parish School System, a bookkeeper for Woodmen of the World, and also served on the Ward Three Water Board. Visitation will take place from 6 - 8 PM Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Golden Funeral Home.
